Pediatric Echo Technologist

  • Check in patients, measure height, weight, and blood pressure.
  • Register patients by confirming patient identification; reviewing requests; checking for special instructions; consulting with the physician; entering anticipated services to patient log.
  • Comfort patients and their families by answering questions; responding to requests; explaining equipment and testing procedures; instructing and assisting patient in assuming physical position for examination.
  • Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms on pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents, to assess heart function and detect cardiovascular abnormalities by using electronic test equipment, recording devices, and laboratory instruments.
  • Utilize various imaging techniques (e.g., 2D, Doppler, color-flow doppler and M-Mode) to obtain accurate cardiac images and ensure proper visualization.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure, especially when working with children and infants.
  • Coordinate with pediatricians, cardiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure the best possible care for pediatric patients.
  • Maintain quality results by following standards, protocols and procedures, and submitting reports.
  • Inform manager or clinic supervisor if any patient needs immediate or urgent attention.
  • Provide information by maintaining laboratory records, such as examinations performed and findings.
  • Maintain cardiology equipment and supplies by cleaning and adjusting equipment; troubleshooting problems; performing preventive maintenance; reporting equipment malfunctions; maintaining supply inventory levels; completing and placing supply requisitions; restocking supply storeroom.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Maintain valid license and certification with CMRITO.
  • Serve and protect the health care facility by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, provincial and local requirements.
  • Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • Completion of an accredited Echocardiography or Cardiovascular Technology program (or equivalent).
  • Certification in Pediatric Echocardiography with CMRITO is mandatory.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience performing pediatric echocardiograms is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in pediatric cardiology is a plus.

  • Maintains quality results by following standards and procedures; submitting reports.

  • Up to date on your registration and licensing authorities’ guidelines and maintain your license validly all the time.
  • Must have a valid BLS certificate, ACLS is an advantage.
